Liberation in the spiritual.

Our Vision:

To liberate and nurture a collective soul through dignity and contemplation.

Our Mission:

The Center for Dignity & Contemplation is a well of resources, practices, and community grounded in spiritual liberation. We are for those remembering what it means to be a soul. Our aim is to reclaim and reintegrate the spiritual into the story of what it means to be human. The embodied, emotional, connected and sacred human. So many of us long for a spirituality that doesn't degrade us. A spirituality that is not rooted in exclusion or violence, but dignity and renewal. Our answer to the systems of this world and spiritualities which are anchored in white supremacy and violence is not to discard our spiritualities but to reclaim them. The Center for Dignity & Contemplation will resurrect and preserve a spiritual wisdom marked by belonging, embodiment, emotion, and memory.

We also want more for our justice seeking than shallow spirituality and exhaustion. We seek to create depth in our justice and liberation practices, offering experiences and thought which will lead to deep rest and restoration. Mysteriously suspended within the two traditions of contemplation and liberation, the Center for Dignity & Contemplation serves as a harbor and well to all those seeking the divine.

  • We provide experiences— Leading spiritual practices, retreats, and conversations with trusted voices.

  • We curate thought— Recovering and archiving historical spiritual thought that is both diverse and inclusive and creating written guides, multimedia resources, and art for spiritual formation.

  • We cultivate belonging— Offering space and dialogue groups for connection and spiritual direction.

  • We nurture wisdom— Consulting with communities and organizations, and offering limited spiritual direction.
