Our Mission:

The Center for Dignity & Contemplation is a well of resources, practices, and community grounded in spiritual liberation. We are for those remembering what it means to be a soul. Our aim is to reclaim and reintegrate the spiritual into the story of what it means to be human.

So many of us long for a spirituality that doesn't degrade us. A spirituality that is not rooted in exclusion or violence, but dignity and renewal. Our answer to the systems of this world and spiritualities which are anchored in white supremacy and violence is not to discard the spiritual but to reclaim it.

The Center for Dignity & Contemplation is resurrecting and preserving a spiritual wisdom marked by belonging, embodiment, emotion, and memory. We seek to create depth in our justice and liberation practices, offering experiences and thought which will lead to deep rest and restoration. Mysteriously suspended within the two traditions of contemplation and liberation, the Center for Dignity & Contemplation serves as a harbor to individuals seeking the divine.

What we do.

  • Resources

We curate thought— recovering and archiving existing spiritual thought that is both diverse and inclusive and creating original written guides, multimedia resources, and art for spiritual formation.

  • Experiences

We provide experiences—leading spiritual practices, retreats, and conversations at Cornell University and for the broader digital community.

  • Dialogue Groups

We nurture belonging— offering space and dialogue groups for connection and spiritual direction.

Our Vision: To liberate and nurture a collective soul through dignity and contemplation.
